Rebar is reinforcing steel that keys into concrete through the ribs on its surface and carries the tensile forces in a reinforced concrete structure. Concrete resists compression and steel tension; the two work together.

The common grades in Türkiye are B420C and B500C; the standards are TS 708 and EN 10080.

Why the ribs are there

The ribs stop the bar slipping inside the concrete. A plain-surfaced bar pulls out of the concrete under load; a ribbed bar keys in and transfers the load.

Rib geometry is set by the standard; its shape and spacing vary between producers but stay within the limits of the standard.

Bar or coil?

Bar form is cut and bent directly on site; it is the most common form.

Coil form suits prefabricated reinforcement producers working with automatic cutting and bending machines; it reduces waste.

Whose job is choosing the grade

The choice of grade belongs to the structural calculation for the project; B420C and B500C have different yield strengths and the calculation is made accordingly.

The characteristic yield strength: 420 MPa for B420C, 500 MPa for B500C. Which is used is determined by the structural calculation for the project.

What lengths does rebar come in?

The standard length is 12,000 mm; in coil form the work follows the machine's cutting.

Can rusted rebar be used?

Light surface rust is usually not a problem; but if corrosion has gone far enough to reduce the cross-section, it should not be used. The supervising engineer decides.

Should I order bars or coils?

Bars suit direct use on site; coils suit feeding an automatic straightening and cutting line. Bars arrive in the standard length, while with coil the cut length is set on the machine, so several different lengths can come out of one batch. If you are unsure which form fits your project, send us your cutting plan and we will go through it with you.

How do I verify the grade on delivery?

The grade is verified by matching the document that comes with the delivery against the rolled-in mill marking on the bar. Check on the delivery note that the grade you ordered is the grade written on the document; we share that document on request. If there is any doubt, the supervising engineer runs the check on a sample.

What information do you need for a rebar quote?

Diameter, grade, form (bar or coil), the length you need and the total quantity. We do not publish prices because rebar is priced daily; once we have these details we share that day's price and the delivery time. If you also give the delivery location, the quote can be assessed with transport included.
