Spiral welded pipe is large-diameter steel pipe produced by coiling hot-rolled strip helically and joining it with submerged arc welding inside and out.
This production method allows much larger diameters than straight-seam pipe, which is why it is the standard solution for transmission mains and infrastructure work.

Why a spiral weld
The helical weld seam distributes stress along the axis of the pipe and makes it possible to produce large-diameter pipe from wide strip.
Submerged arc welding inside and out brings the strength of the seam into line with that of the body.

When ordering
Besides diameter, wall thickness, grade and length, state your coating and end-finishing requirements: epoxy coating, internal lining or flanged ends may be needed.
Also write which standard (EN 10217-1 or API 5L) you require conformity to; the test and certificate set varies accordingly.
